The create dialog does not appear when a tag is a substring of another tag, even in the tags editor.

Can confirm. As a quick workaround for now, it’s possible to create a new tag with a placeholder name, then rename it to the desired name.

Yes you are right. May I ask how big of a problem this is for your workflow? My assumption was that this is relatively minor (I might be wrong). But fixing it is not that easy since every tag input in the app works as search first.

Moderate annoyance, but I think the tag editor could be more robust. Hamburger > Manage Tags … Create tag button available when literal search fails at the top of all filtered tags. Other issue being redundant (identical) tags. A counter might be useful in the tag editor indicating how many items are tagged by each. I have two “programming” tags. “Alexa shopping list” (1) “Amazon shopping list (45).
My spring cleanup would involve finding rare tags and categorizing them better.
