Microsoft Defender SmartScreen on Windows

Hi everyone, I’m trying to install Everdo on my work laptop, but SmartScreen says the app is unrecognized and won’t let me install it (or even run the portable version). Does anyone know a way to get around this? Thanks in advance for your help!

I know I can install it through “Run away” button, but last time I did it I got a call from my cybersecurity department and I do not want to repeat it

Hi ellgon,

I’m afraid there’s no way to install on Windows without overriding the SmartScreen.

Everdo is properly signed, which you can and should verify, but it hasn’t been (yet) installed by enough users since the code signing certificate was renewed last year.

Oh, thanks a lot for your answer. I’ll try asking my it support If we could do an exception or something

Hello Andrei,

I downloaded Everdo from Edge on my windows vm, and it gave me a message telling me that the everdo installer was a potential risk. After telling it to keep the file, I had the opportunity to give feedback, and one of the questions was if I was the owner/developer of the software. Not sure if you went through the process already, but I think it could help. Anyway I’m giving feedback to see if it’s approved.

Thanks! I did fill in some forms to get the certificate whitelisted, but really they need volume of downloads.
