Task already exists

I sometimes put a task in Everdo that I had already added in the past. Suggestion: Would it be possible to Everdo gives a hint when a task already exists to prevent duplication?

Hey, it’s an interesting suggestion. Which app are you referring to and what is the workflow you are using for capture where you think this would help?

I use Everdo Desktop. This would be an issue when entering an indivual task in the Inbox. Mostly just after having a brainwave regarding a specific task. You go to the Inbox, enter the task text, and continue with your work. So not when adding tasks to a project or when handling the task. But I can imagine that it is better to find this out when handling the task to not interupt the task dumping flow.

This is a “nice to have” feature. Not essential.

I do often enter duplicates like this, but they usually don’t cause any issues during a review - I just hit the delete shortcut and it’s gone.

I think it would be quite challenging to detect a duplicate task reliably since you might word it slightly differently.

You are right. The normal GTD proces should catch these things. Probable better then trying to catch this automatically.
